It can be hard for a client to verbally describe how they want the information to look and the options they seek, for using data.

We often ask clients to show us a few example websites that display the data or products the way they most prefer, as it's the best way for us to understand their needs .

Taking care to notice 'how a visitor gets to/reaches the data' and 'what a visitor can do within the page, once there'
(search the data, print it perfectly, react to the data).

The options on displaying data are below:

Some businesses need to supply clients and customers with a large amount of information, geared towards their specific needs.

In such cases, a database driven site is the best choice (subject to budget).

Standard directories, such as our mentioned below, may not be suitable. Especially if the users interaction is due to determine the content they see.

Fact Sheet Plug-In

Reaching Data

A user has to choose the data with a 'drop down menu'. Fact Sheets can also be listed, with an image, automatically under the 'drop down menu'. There can currently be two categories of data,each with their own page.

We could potentially add a search facility and a print friendly version, for each fact sheet/report, as an extra.

Adding Data

A user needs very little knowledge and just has to fill out a form, with the information designated to its own field(row). We would need to adjust the design or layout.

Data Appearance (Type)

Layout is very simple, with one row under another. The WYSIWTG can be used for more complicated layouts. This is essential as it allows for the fields to be adjusted (added/removed) in moments.

(A more complicated layout can be hand made for an additional fee (e.g. here). However the template/layout would need added to each entry manually.)

Document Library

Reaching Data

A user has to search for the documents by Name, Keywords or Category. Links to each file can be added manually, at the top of the page. Categories can be adjusted via your CMS.

Adding Data

Images, PDF and Word documents can be created and adjusted via the relevant software program. They can be added (uploaded) via your CMS.

A standard website

All the pages of information (images/text), for the data, could be added by hand, within normal website pages (rather than via an automated tool/shop/directory), however it would take far longer and the relationships between the items would be more complicated to create manually.

This may do for very few items, and not too much information. It would be uneconomical if there were many.
